Garland of precious gems
Aruna Purohit

Guruji, Yogacharya Sri. B.K.S. Iyengar’s daughter Dr. Geeta Iyengar conducted a ten day intensive from December 1 -10, 2014 on the occasion of her 70th birthday celebrations at Pune, India. The workshop was titled “Yoganusasanam ”.  There were 1200 participants from 57 countries, I was one of the fortunate ones to participate in this workshop. It was a very well organized convention. Geetaji shared her wealth of knowledge, that she has gained from her father and Guruji and from personal practice, with the participants. She taught many asanas and pranayama with greater depth, knowledge, precision and clarity.  The ten days of the convention was like a garland of ten precious gems.  Each day was phenomenal and was presented with immeasurable wealth of knowledge on different concepts of Iyengar yoga, asanas and Pranayama. The eight steps of Astanga yoga was ingrained in the workshop and unraveled through out the convention. Geetaji’s love towards teaching yoga was experienced at every moment. The convention was an invaluable journey for all the yoga practitioners and the teachers. I savored every moment in the journey and I will treasure them for the rest of my life, an experience unlike any other I had before.
