Welcome to Vaayu Yoga Shala (VYS). We are delighted to have you as our students. The following guidelines are developed to ensure the safety of the students and to have positive and peaceful experience at our in-person & on-line classes.
Wear comfortable cotton workout or athletic clothing.
Arrive 5 – 10 min early to the class. If you arrive late, please wait outside until the teacher finishes the opening meditation and prayer.
Please remove shoes at the door.
Remember to bring your yoga mat, water bottle and props (3 or 4 yoga blankets, 2 – 4″ blocks, and a 6′ yoga belt).
Enter fresh and clean. Taking a bath or shower before and after the yoga practice refreshes the body and mind.
Absolutely no cell phones or pagers allowed in the class area. Please put them on silent mode and store them safely.
Pagers or cell phones are allowed in the class area for the physicians who are on call.
Please store all valuables in your bag. Do not keep them near the mat.
If possible practice on an empty stomach. Wait 2- 3 hrs after eating to practice yoga. If hungry before class try a piece of fruit/vegetable, crackers, cup of milk/tea/coffee. Empty your bladder and bowel before practice.
Keep your body well hydrated. Refrain from drinking water during the class.
If comfortable, remove contact lenses before class. Remove glasses for savasana (corpse pose). Place the glasses in a safe place – may be on a block or on the table – so the teacher will not accidentally step on them.
Regular practice is necessary to receive the full benefit of yoga.
Be sure to notify the teacher of any injuries, recent surgeries, and/or medical conditions. This helps the teacher to know how to assist you and give modifications.
Please text or email the teacher in advance if you are planning to attend a class in a different series to make up your missed class.
