    Guruji Yogacharya Sri. B.K.S.Iyengar

The Full Moon Day in the month of Ashadha (July-August) is known as Guru Poornima, a day sacred to the memory of the great sage Maharshi Veda Vyasa (photo on the background wall). The saint who edited the Vedas (ancient scriptures of India). The word guru is derived from two Sanskrit words gu and ru. The Sanskrit root gu means darkness or ignorance, and ru denotes the remover of that darkness. Therefore, a guru is one who removes the darkness of ignorance and leads the shishyas or disciples on the path of enlightenment. Guru Poornima is traditionally the time when seekers offer gratitude to their Guru and receive his blessings. Guru Poornima is also considered an auspicious day to practice yogic sadhana.

On this auspicious day we pay our respects to our late Guruji Yogacharya Sri B.K.S. Iyengar. May his blessings be with all of us always.
