Tribute to Yogacharya Sri B.K.S. Iyengar

The whole world mourns the death of Yogacharya Sri BKS Iyengar, who passed away in Pune, India at 3:15 am on August 20, 2014 at the age of 95. His passing and his extraordinary life and legacy have been recognized internationally. We are feeling deep sadness at this time but we are filled with immense gratitude for all that Guruji has given us and how he has transformed our lives. He was a great Guru.
” The knowledge of yoga is handed down in regular succession, the royal sages knew. This yoga, by long lapse of time has been lost. For at that time, some great master appears on the horizon to inspire, encourage and to lead the generation away from the ruts and sorrows onto the highroads of wisdom” – (Bhagavadgita- Chapter IV.2).
Guruji, a great master has rekindled the light of yoga and he has shown us the path of wisdom. It is our responsibility to carry that torch, spread the light as far as we can and move on the path he has shown to us.
This is his wish for us, as he expressed in Light on Life; ‘I do pray that my ending will be your beginning.’
